Cyberduck – Cyberduck is a graphical open source FTP and SFTP client for Mac OS X licensed under the GPL. In addition, it is also able to open some files in external text editors. Cyberduck includes a bookmark manager and supports the Mac OS X Keychain and Bonjour networking.
DAZ Studio – DAZ Studio is a 3D figure illustration/animation application released by DAZ 3D Inc. It is compatible with most files intended for use by Poser. Unlike most 3D software, where 3D objects are usually created from scratch, DAZ Studio is designed to allow users to manipulate “ready to use” models and figures. It is aimed at users who are interested in posing human figures for illustrations and animation, but who may be daunted by more technical 3D and CAD software.

GIMP – The most popular of all free photo editing software, GIMP stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program, and is highly-supported and frequently updated. Comparative to Photoshop, users can perform basic tasks such as photo retouching, color correction, and image size, or more complicated tasks like image composition and creation. GIMP has a scripting interface for advance users, as well as plugins, extensions, and filters.
Google SketchUp – Different from a normal vector graphics program, Google’s SketchUp allows you to not only create a design, but view it in 3D. It is easier to use than more complicated 3D software, such as AutoCAD, and is free.
Handbrake – HandBrake is a software application that can convert MPEG video (including DVD-Video) into a MPEG-4 video file in .mp4, .avi, .ogm, or .mkv containers. The program is used by many people to convert DVDs into other forms so they can be viewed on iPods, iPhones and with the Mac QuickTime Player.
Image Tricks – Image tricks is a freeware application for editing your photos and images using Mac OS X Core Image filters that transform your photos and apply advanced visual effects. This program also contains a powerful image generator for creating unique backgrounds and abstract images for business cards, web design, print materials and more.
Inkspace – An Open Source vector graphics editor, with capabilities similar to Illustrator, CorelDraw, or Xara X, using the W3C standard Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format. Inkscape supports many advanced SVG features (markers, clones, alpha blending, etc.) and great care is taken in designing a streamlined interface. It is very easy to edit nodes, perform complex path operations, trace bitmaps and much more. We also aim to maintain a thriving user and developer community by using open, community-oriented development.
iStumbler – iStumbler is the leading wireless discovery tool for Mac OS X, providing plugins for finding AirPort networks, Bluetooth devices and Bonjour services with your Mac. iTunes – ITunes is a proprietary digital media player application, used for playing and organizing digital music and video files. The program is also an interface to manage the contents on Apple’s popular iPod digital media players as well as the iPhone. Additionally, iTunes can connect to the iTunes Store via the Internet to purchase and download music, music videos, television shows, applications, iPod games, audiobooks, various podcasts, feature length films and movie rentals (not available in all countries), and ringtones (available only in the USA). It is also used to download applications for the iPhone and iPod touch as long as they are running iPhone OS 2.0 or later.
Mozy – Mozy is an online backup tool that allows both Windows and Mac users to back up their data to an off-site server. With the free version of Mozy, a user can back up as much as 2 GB of data from up to two computers (referring others to Mozy gives free users an additional 0.25 GB of storage space). The paid version allows unlimited backups from one computer. Mozy has the ability to back up several types of files such as bookmarks, documents, and e-mails at once rather than forcing the user to select particular files or folders.
Nvu – Nvu was created as an open source web authoring platform from the people that brought you Linspire. Nvu’s broad feature set makes it a viable replacement for expensive alternative web authoring systems such as Microsoft Frontpage and Macromedia (now Adobe) Dreamweaver. Nvu was created with the beginner in mind and is regarded as one of the best solutions for amateur coders. Users can readily switch between WYSIWYG and code views and manage their content with a tabbed interface. Nvu also features integrated file management via FTP. Quicksilver – Quicksilver is a computer utility software program for Mac OS X, made by Blacktree Software and distributed freely. It is essentially a graphical shell for the OS X operating system aimed at increasing user efficiency. It allows users to use the keyboard to rapidly perform tasks such as launching applications, manipulating files and data, running scripts, or sending e-mail; all typical specialties of a shell.
Seashore – Seashore is an open source image editor for Mac OS X’s Cocoa framework. It features gradients, textures and anti-aliasing for both text and brush strokes. It supports multiple layers and alpha channel editing. It is based around the GIMP’s technology and uses the same native file format.
Sidenote – Sidenote resides in drawer on the side of your desktop, can be pulled open momentarily (with the mouse or a hotkey); it then slides back out of view when you’re done. Like TextEdit, it allows for a nice variety of text formatting, and unlike TextEdit, it saves in a repository rather than a file.
Skitch – Skitch makes it so easy to capture, size, crop and annotate images. You no longer need to load the GIMP to do simple image edits. When you the free storage and sharing capabilities from the Skitch online service, you have an excellent photo-editing and sharing combination.
Skype – Skype is software that enables the world’s conversations. Smultron – Smultron is an open source text editor for Mac OS X that is designed for both beginning and advanced users. It is notable for its breadth of syntax highlighting and text encoding support, and also for its different approach towards column view and multiple tabbing.
StuffIt Expander – StuffIt is a family of computer software utilities for archiving and compressing files on the Macintosh and Microsoft Windows platforms: it was originally produced for the Macintosh. Stuffit will handle virtually every file compression format.
TextWrangler 2 – TextWrangler is a popular text editor for Mac OS X from Bare Bones Software. Sen. Noynoy Aquino settled for second place with 22% or 1,271 votes in the philippineselections.com survey, followed by Sen. Richard Gordon with 15% or 824 votes; evangelist Eddie Villanueva with 12% or 652 votes; Sen. Manny Villar with 8% or 44 votes; former President Joseph Estrada with 3% or 145 votes.
